Background and Introduction
The Fondue Fund is a group of strong women who have come together to develop camaraderie, form lasting bonds among members, leverage relationships, foster an environment of female empowerment, and celebrate our
individual and collective strengths and assets.

The Fondue Fund has invested its 2007-2008 resources with two local entities in Greensboro and Winston-Salem. The “Dream” grant made to the Women’s Resource Center of Greensboro is designed to empower women to follow their passion and turn a vision into reality.

The Dream
In this inaugural year of the Dream process, the Fondue Fund is in search of women with creative, innovative ideas that have the potential to transform the balance of power in our communities. The Fondue Fund wishes to grant dreams that have been prevented because of obstacles, both financial and social. Dreams that involve business ventures may be supported through this process as well as dreams that advance education in a non-traditional way, and dreams that benefit the family unit that a woman supports (please see the funding guidelines below).

The Fondue Fund will evaluate dream applications based on the feasibility of the dream, the passion with which the dream is expressed, the availability of resources (both human and institutional), and the creativity of the vision. All dreams are important, though the Fondue Fund will only be able to grant a select number of dreams through this process. The number and amount of grants awarded will depend upon the nature and the number of applications received. We anticipate that grants may range from $250 to $5,000.

Dream Application Process
The application process is intended to allow each woman with a dream the opportunity to articulate why her dream is important and how fulfilling her dream has been a challenge in the past. Applications will be accepted from February 1, 2008 until February 22, 2008. Completed applications may be mailed to the Women’s Resource Center at:

After submitting your application, you may be asked to attend a brief interview with members of the Fondue Fund and the Women’s Resource Center to discuss your dream.

Funding Guidelines
What We Are Interested in Funding:
We will provide “tipping point” funding for creative, innovative ideas that will positively impact you and your community. Ideas include, but are not limited to:
• Business projects with a feasible business plan and additional funding
• Examples:
• Starting a salon or renting a booth at a salon
• Starting an electrical or plumbing business
• Starting a catering business
• Starting a non-profit organization
• Education or professional training (see below for types of training that will not be funded)
• Examples:
• Finishing an AA, BA, or BS degree.
• Obtaining professional licensure or certification
• Support for gallery space or studio space
• Examples:
• Gallery space for an art show opening
• Studio space to complete artistic work (dance, drama, etc.)
• Neighborhood or community improvement projects
• Examples:
• Community garden
• Child care cooperative
• Food cooperative

What We Are Not Interested in Funding:
• Training to become a life coach or professional organizer
• Multi-level marketing businesses (Avon, Mary Kay, Southern Living, Pampered Chef, etc.)
• Emergency financial assistance
• Home improvement projects
• Projects that do not impact your community
• Business projects that do not include a feasible business plan
• Business projects that do not have a means to raise the additional funding needed to implement the project
